You’ve probably used a taxi at least once in your life, whether it was to pick up a friend at the airport or for an unexpected late-night trip home. Taxis are convenient and relatively inexpensive, especially in the US where there are often no fees for booking one.

But why should you still use taxis? Especially when you can get the same service by booking a car seat at your destination, getting a ride with Uber or taking public transit?

The answer is because taxis are actually quite good at their job. While Uber and other ride-sharing apps may be more reliable than taxis. Those apps take a bigger cut of your earnings, especially in big cities or on days that have fewer drivers. So while you may save money by using one of these other services, you’re likely to spend more overall. Taxies still have their place in this industry.
